Loading an experiment with associated files from the MWorks iOS app

Hi all,

Regarding the issue we encountered yesterday: It seems that, as of iOS 13, it’s no longer possible to select directories when loading an experiment from an iPad. I’ll have to think about alternative ways to make this work.

In the meantime, the only workaround I can think of is to dump all the files associated with an experiment (XML, images, sounds, etc.) in to a single, flat directory. (You will need to modify the experiment XML to reflect the new relative locations of the associated files.) Then, to load the experiment:

  1. Tap “Choose experiment”.
  2. Navigate to the folder containing the experiment files (which, again, must all be at the top level of said folder, not in any subfolders).
  3. Tap “Select”.
  4. Tap “Select All”.
  5. Tap “Open”.

This is awkward and silly, but it does work.

Of course, if you load the experiment from MWClient on a Mac, then this issue doesn’t affect you, and you can continue to organize your experiment files however you choose. In truth, it might just be easier to bring a laptop upstairs with you when setting up the rigs for the day, and use it to load and start the experiments. (FYI, MWClient can disconnect from and reconnect to an iPad at any time, even if an experiment is running.)

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks Chris. I think we’ll stick to running the experiment from a remote
MWClient.
