Dear Chris,
Does current version of MWorks allow to play videos (in video file format such as .avi or .mp4)? If not, do you guys have any plan to implement that feature in the next generation or so?
Best,
Soo Hyun

Hi Soo Hyun,
No, MWorks can’t display movies in video file format at present. However, adding support for this has been on my to-do list for a while. If this is a feature you’ll need in the near future, I can try to implement it sooner rather than later.
Cheers,
Chris
Hi Chris,
Yes, if it can be implemented sooner, it would be great. Currently in our laboratory we present video stimuli (usually 5-minute long) during the experiment pretty routinely, and surprisingly almost no toolbox out there can do it… this is a critical feature in my experiment, so if MWorks can do it then I can use it for everything without changing to a different toolbox just for the video presentation…
Best,
Soo Hyun
OK, I’ll try to get it in to the next release (due out this fall).
Cheers,
Chris
Hi Soo Hyun,
The MWorks nightly build now supports playing video files. The files can be in any video format supported by the OS. Usage is pretty straightforward. Probably the easiest way to get familiar with it is to look at some examples.
When you have a chance, please try this out and see if it meets your needs. My current plan is to include this feature in MWorks 0.7, which hopefully will be released within the next month or so.
Cheers,
Chris
